Marathia

View from the road

Marathia is remote beach on the southwest coast of Pelion, not popular among tourists. It is surrounded by small trees and olive groves, with a handful of private houses behind and one beach taverna. The emblematic Tzasteni is a few kilometers away.

The road which goes to Trikeri and the southernmost point of the peninsula passes just above Marathia but the beach remains invisible, hidden by the trees, and you need to watch for the sign of taverna. The beach is narrow but long, covered by small smooth pebbles. The sea is transparent, without any waves - something usual for the beaches in this part of Pelion. There are no sunbeds and parasols to rent but you do not actually them because the trees reach to the very beach and cast shadow over half of it. The closest village, Milina, is 10 km away.
