Loutraki

Moored boats at the port

Loutraki is the second port of Skopelos and all the ferries and hydrofoils from Volos and Skiathos stop here as well, on their way to Skopelos Town and Alonnisos. In the past it was known as Selenounda and its nowadays name suggests the presence of mineral springs (loutra - mineral bath). Indeed, remains of Roman baths were found in the area and some temple ruins can still be seen.

In the past Loutraki was just a harbor to serve the nearby village of Glossa but recently it has been developing as a small resort by the sea. It has hotels with sea view, budget rooms to rent, super market and a couple of tavernas around the port. There are two pebbled beaches on both sides of the port but they are much exposed to north winds due to the open location of Loutraki.
