Limnionas

Coarse sand and blue water

Limnionas is an isolated beach on the east coast of Pelion. It is also know as Kato Xorychti because it is located 6 km away from the old mountainous village of Xorychti.

Limnionas is accessible via road which slopes down to the sea for a few kilometers. At first the road is paved and turns into unpaved in the last kilometer but it ends right on the beach. Limnionas is surrounded by impressive high cliffs and green hills, with only one seasonal cafeteria and no other buildings in close vicinity. The beach is covered with coarse sand and pebbles, and the water is striking blue but rather deep around the shore - it is good for swimming and snorkeling. Note that despite the presence of a cafeteria, no sunbeds or parasol are rented. You can order drinks and snacks but you should bring our own sun protection (or at least that was the situation by 2017). The remoteness of Limnionas makes it calm and usually there are not many people around but sometimes you can see tents.

The beach is located between the famous Milopotamos and the small Lampinou beach but because of the rocky landscape there is no road connecting all three of them. Hiking trails are available however, and you can walk on a narrow coastal path, following the provided signboards. The distance between Lampinou and Limnionas on this path is approximately 800 meters, and between Limnionas and Milopotamos - less than 2 km.
