Kouniadi

Kouniadi is an old village in northwest Ikaria which belongs to Raches municipality. The area is scarcely populated and accessible via unpaved road from Christos Raches and Nas beach. The village is located on a hill high above the sea and almost all houses have retained their original island style. This is one of the most isolated inhabited places on Ikaria. Below Kouniadi is the beach of Nanouras, a small cove between high rocks with a couple of villas around it. However, due to the mountainous relief of the region there is no direct road from the village to the beach, and the detour takes about 8 km and half an hour drive.
