Kontokali

Marina and yachts seen from the air

Kontokali is a small resort on the eastern coast of Corfu, close to the capital. It is very close to the neighboring village of Gouvia and both are almost united.

Here you will find a variety of hotels - big and small, luxurious and modest, but overall the resort is slightly more expensive because of its proximity to Corfu Town. Due to its popularity among foreign tourists, the restaurants offer not only Greek cuisine, but also English, Chinese and Indian. There are supermarkets, bakeries, souvenir shops, ATMs and a playground. Night life is not very rich, although there are several bars, because the resort is preferred by families with children and elderly couples. Between Gouvia and Kontokali you can see the ruins of old Venetian shipyard.

The resort also extends to a small peninsula with a few beach strips but most of them are managed by hotels/private villas and the access is restricted. The public beach of Kontokali is small but entirely sandy, located on the east side of the peninsula. It has sunbeds and parasols offered by a beach bar. The other beach accessible to public is called Sotiriotisa and it is a narrow strip of pebbles without facilities.
