Kilkis Region is situated in north Greece. It borders the Republic of Macedonia to the north, Serres Region to the east, Thessaloniki Region to the south and Pella Region to the west. The capital city of the region is Kilkis.
During the centuries the area was part of the Macedonian Kingdom, the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Bulgarian Empire, the Ottoman Empire and since 1913 it has been part of Greece.
