Kefali

Kefali

Kefali is a tiny mountainous village in West Crete. It is next to the road that leads from Chania Town to Elafonissi lagoon beach. The village is hidden between the hills and it is a calm and relaxing destination. On the main road there are tavernas, shops and parking space. Villas and small hotels are nestled in the hill and offer peaceful atmosphere and panoramic views.

The church of Metamorphosis tou Sotiros (Transfiguration of the Savior) is located at the center of Kefali. It is a Byzantine church built in 14th century and hosts celebrations on 6 August each year. Around the village there are even more churches accessible via small roads and hiking trails. One of the paths towards Aerinos village leads to an ancient giant olive tree which has a perimeter of 14 meters.
