Katochori
Katochori (meaning ”lower village”) is a small settlement between Portaria and Ano Volos, about 10 km from Volos center. It has almost merged with Portaria and probably it has developed as a new neighborhood of the traditional village when there was no space for new buildings to appear - unlike the houses of Portaria, those of Katochori have more contemporary look and there are no squares and cobbled streets.
Like the rest villages in the area, Katochori also has panoramic views of the Pagasitikos gulf and Volos. There are a few guesthouses and hotels.
