Kambos
Kampos (also Kambos) is a mountainous village in the west part of Crete, on the road to Elafonisi beach. The village is located high on the hill slopes, with tavernas and villas offering great sunset views.
In Kampos you can visit some interesting places like the old mills, the Byzantine church of Agia Paraskevi and the church of All Saints, built into a cave. A hiking trail starts from the village and follows the Cretan westernmost gorge. The gorge is covered with lush vegetation, trees with thick shade and a small river flows trough it. At the end of the hiking trail is Platanakia beach. Platanakia is covered with pebbles and has no shade at all, there are no parasols and sunbeds either.
The closest beach to Kampos is Gylisma, this is where locals come to swim and moor their boats at the tiny harbor. Gylisma beach is covered with pebbles and visited by few people.
