Gouvia

Gouvia is a small resort with marina, located amidst greenery and almost merged with Kontokali. It is located on the east coast of Corfu, about 8 km away from the capital.

The settlement offers everything needed for a holiday, although the resort is not very big. It is visited mostly by couples and families with children, or by people who come with their yachts and use the marina. There is a choice of hotels, taverns, fast food restaurants and cafes, shops and 24-hour medical center. In Gouvia you can see the ruins of old Venetian shipyard. Many people prefer it because it is near Corfu Town.

The beach of Gouvia consists of a narrow and curved strip of pebbles next to the Venetian Shipyard. There is no sand but walking on the pebbles is like massage for the feet. Around the coast there are small groves of trees where you can withdraw if the sun is too much for you. Boat trips and water skiing are available.
