Gialiskari

Gialiskari harbor in a cloudy day

Gialiskari is a small fishing harbor on the north coast of Ikaria, very close to Armenistis. Because of the large beaches of Livadi and Messakti which spread between Armenistis and Gialiskari, the region is popular among tourists and there are hotels and restaurants scattered around.

The most scenic part of the Gialiskari is its harbor, which is not visible from the main road. If you are not accommodated in the area, you would easily miss it because the road leading down to it starts from a sharp turn and at first sight it looks steep and narrow. But a visit of the harbor is by all means worthy. It has a line of seafront fish taverns and cafes, serving fresh seafood and local delicacies in a really quaint atmosphere. At the pier rises up the white-blue chapel of Analipsis which you can see also from Messakti beach.
