Gefyra

Gefyra is also known as the New Monemvasia because it has developed around the bridge that connects mainland with the huge rock of Kastro Monemvasia. Thus its name - Gefyra means ”bridge” in Greek. The village gets very busy with tourists almost all year round, there are many hotels, guest houses, tavernas, cafes and fast food. Compared to the old Monemvasia, you can have parking space right to your hotel, and the castle and the old town are just 30 minutes walk away via the bridge. The bridge and the road to Kastro Monemvasia are illuminated at night and it is very beautiful.

Gefyra also has a small fishing port with fresh fish and sea food tavernas. The beach strip of the village is narrow and rocky so in the day tourists go to the nearby beaches of Pori and Xifias.
