Faros

Faros

Faros is a fishing village on the south coast of Sifnos. It has a small harbor and three sandy beaches with clean and shallow water - Fassolou, Faros and Glyfo (Vlycho).

The village is small but there are rooms to rent, tavernas, cafeteria and a mini-market for basic goods. Although Faros seems very close to Chrisopigi and Platis Gialos, there is no coastal road for cars to connect them. The closest village is Apollonia, 7 km away, and there you can find all kinds of shops and services for your holiday.

Faros beach is right next to the harbor and the parking space of the village. It has sand mixed with small pebbles, shallow water, a few trees and parasols. Some of the tavernas also place their tables right on the sand. From Faros beach you can clearly see the rocky peninsula with the famous Monastery of Chrisopigi. The other two beaches of the village are within walking distance. Fassolou is accessible via a path which starts from the harbor and continues for approximately 400 meters. You can also visit this beach by car, as you follow a road before the village entrance. The third beach, Glyfo, is next to Faros and in order to reach it you should follow the alley which pass by the last beach taverna and goes up the hill between the houses. From Glyfo starts the most popular hiking trail of Sifnos which leads to the chapel of Agios Charalampos and the Monastery of Chrisopigi.

All beaches of Faros are protected from wind even in the windiest days.
