Fanari

Fanari

The small and quiet resort of Fanari lies in the southeastern part of the island, close to the airport. It is rather a rural area with a cluster of houses spread around a long beach strip. Although it attracts some tourists in the summer, it is less developed and much more tranquil compared to the north settlements.

The main road does not enter the village and the streets inside are unpaved. The few restaurants are scattered along the beach and almost all buildings are guesthouses or room to rent. The beach strip is long and wide, with sand and pebbles and a line of low-grown trees for natural shade. In the region you can visit the ancient site of Drakano, the old capital of Ikaria, and a few secluded coves - Iero to the north, and Kerame and Anefante to the west. Agios Kirikos is 10 km away.
