Evgiros is one of those places on
Lefkada that you wouldn`t visit by accident. It is a small old village in the southeast part of Lefkada island, close to
Marantochori and
Vasiliki.
Evgiros is situated on a hill high above the sea, surrounded by green landscape and quiet atmosphere. Part of the village boasts superb views to the sea, the uninhabited island of Arkoudi and the island of
Ithaca (in clear weather) and namely in this part you will find a nice family run taverna. Except for the taverna, there is also a cafe and a bakery. The closest shops and supermarkets are in Marantochori which is less than 2 km away. The houses in the village are old and built in the typical for the region style with stones, with narrow and winding alleys between the buildings. The villas to rent are only a few and almost no tourists can be found here, except for those who come to the taverna or pass by the village in order to reach the small
Afteli beach which is one of the few still hidden beaches on the island. Afteli is reachable via a 3 km road which starts from Evgiros and goes down to the sea.
