Ellinika

Ellinika

Along with the beach of Mavrospilia, Ellinika is located in Dekas bay on the west coast of Kimolos. It is more famous for the necropolis and the ruins of ancient tombs which are supposed to be part of a city, existed during the Mycenaean period and destroyed in a severe earthquake. The little islet of Agios Andreas, visible from the beach, was also part of the city. Many ruined tombs can be seen on the hill above Ellinika beach, and locals say that some of the city ruins are still in the sea between Kimolos and Milos.

Ellinika is a sandy beach and usually not occupied by people because the access is via rough and unpaved road.
