One of the largest beaches of the island, Elia, is also one of the most popular. It is covered all over by sunbeds and parasols of beach tavernas, offering waiter services and water sport facilities. The sand is fine and soft, and the water is shallow and sparkling blue, and all this combined with the size make it clear why the beach is so famous.
Keep in mind that all sunbeds are paid (EUR 20-25 per two sunbeds and a parasol) and the food and drinks are much more expensive than other places in Greece. Around the beach are concentrated some of the most luxurious five star hotels of Mykonos
, as well as private villas to rent. Elia is also known as a gay-friendly beach - the far end bordering with a group of rocks is officially intended for gays and naturists.
