Dafni

Protected beach with turtles nests

Dafni is one of the more isolated beaches of Zakynthos, located on the southwest coast of Vasilikos. It is accessible via dirt road from the main road crossing Vasilikos. The beach is protected as part of the National Marine Park and some sections of it are closed for visitors. After sunset no access is permitted in order to not disturb the turtles. The nests are surrounded with wooden sticks and you can see many of them at the beach. n the bay opposite Dafni stands the islet of Pelouzo (Kalonisi) which is also home for the turtles.

Dafni has sand mixed with pebbles, as some parts are entirely sandy. In the water there are rocks here and there but the seabed is shallow. A couple of beach tavernas operate at the beach during the day and they offer a limited number of sunbeds and umbrellas.
