Cape Drapanos

Bright blue sea and rocks

Cape Drapanos is a rocky promontory close to Almyrida but it also includes part of the coastline. It covers the northwest part of Apokoronas area which is between the seaside resorts of Kalyves and Georgioupoli.

The landscape of Drapanos is barren and hilly, with high slopes reaching the sea. The northernmost part ends with the lighthouse of Drapanos and a small flat cape under which the underwater Elephants Cave is located (can be visited only by scuba divers). Drapanos has a couple of quiet rocky coves which can be accessed by car via dirt roads. One of them is Ombrosgialos near the village of Kefalas, the other is Koutalas beach near Kokkino Chorio. A few km north of Ombrogialos a winding and narrow dirt road leads down to a taverna and a few villas to rent in the middle of nowhere.

The coastline of Drapanos also has sea caves which can be explored by boat trip.
