Bazeos Tower

The Bazeos Tower is a historical monument which now functions as museum. It is one of the thirteen preserved Venetian towers you can see on the island of Naxos.

The Bazeos Tower is located near the village of Ano Sangri. It was restored and today it hosts exhibitions of contemporary artists scattered all over the tower, and in August every year the festival of Naxos also takes place there. The building dates back to 17 century and at first it functioned as a monastery - it was constructed as a castle due to the multiple pirate attacks at that time. In 19 century the monastery was abandoned by the monks and later sold by the Greek government to the Bazeos family which still own and manage the tower.

The tower has entrance fee and accepts visitors every day from 10:00 to 17:00.
