Ano Garouna
Ano Garouna is a very old inland village of Corfu, close to the resort of Agios Gordios. It is built high on the mountain slopes and has panoramic view over the bay of Agios Gordios (from some places you can even take a glimpse of the beach) and the neighbor village of Kato Garouna.
Ano Garouna is reachable via narrow paved road and hairpin turns. The road ends at the village center near a cafe-restaurant called Iliovasilema (Sunset) - you should leave your vehicle there because the alleys between the houses in this part of the village are for pedestrians only. If you walk inside, you will see a nice small church, old buildings painted in the typical for the island yellow and pink colors and maybe meet some of the local residents sitting on small chairs and chatting with neighbors.
Agios Gordios beach is approximately 4 km away from Ano Garouna.
