Alikampos

Alikampos

Alikampos is an old inland village at the foot of the Lefka Ori Mountain (meaning White Mountain). It lies somewhere in the middle between Chania Town and Rethymno Town, at a distance of 40 and 30 km, respectively. The road from Chania to Chora Sfakion on the south coast, from where you can take the ferry to Loutro and Agia Roumeli, passes by the village. The closest beach is 9 km away, in Georgioupoli.

Except for the ruins of old houses and churches, in Alikampos there is a Byzantine church with murals from 1315. Just outside the village, on the road to Chora Sfakion there is the Dourakis Winery where you can have a walk inside, see how local wine is made and taste various wine types.
