The port of
Agios Nikolaos lies on the northeast coast of
Zakynthos. It should be distinguished from the beach with the same name which is found in the southernmost part of the Vassilikos peninsula, and that is why the port is also called Agios Nikolaos
Volimes, after the name of the nearby mountain village of Volimes.
Agios Nikolaos is the second port of Zakynthos, connecting it with Pessada,
Kefalonia island, during the summer. It is set in a sheltered bay with an islet in front of it. Many speed boats and boat trips to the
Blue Caves and
Navagio beach run from here all day long and the trip is much shorter compared to boats starting from Zakinthos town. Around the port you will find some nice tavernas and a bakery. There is also a small pebbly beach between the two piers.
