A small island named Ammouliani lies just off the coast of Mount Athos and attracts curious tourists like a magnet. It is a popular destination for day long excursions and short summer vacations. The island is connected with Mount Athos via ferryboat line which runs from Tripiti port and transports both people and vehicles. Ships travel often and tickets are affordable (around 10 euro for car and 2.20 euro for adult or child over 5).
Often people come to visit the island for a day, especially if they are spending their vacation in the nearby villages of Nea Roda, Ouranoupoli, Ierissos or the bigger hotel resorts in this part of Halkidiki. Visitors without own transport are usually stranded in Ammouliani Town and only visit the few small beaches that are within the village or next to it. Alikes
Der beliebteste Strand von Ammouliani, Alikes, liegt an der Westküste der Insel. Es ist ca. 1 km vom Dorf entfernt. Ebenso ist eine sandige Bucht mit einer sichelförmigen Form. Das Wasser ist am Ufer sehr flach und für kleine Kinder geeignet. Im Sommer hat es einen Campingplatz und ein paar Strandbars. In der Umgebung können Häuser und Wohnungen gemietet werden.
Megali Ammos
Megali Ammos ist der südlichste Strand von Ammouliani. Es liegt an der Südostküste der Insel und bietet Blick auf die Drenia-Inseln und den Turm von Ouranoupoli. Ein Teil der Straße zu diesem Strand ist unbefestigt, aber der Zugang ist einfach. Wie die meisten Strände von Ammouliani ist auch Megali Ammos mit Sand bedeckt. Im Sommer gibt es dort eine Strandbar und eine Strandtaverne, die den Besuchern Liegen und Sonnenschirme anbieten.
Karagatsia
Der Strand Karagatsia liegt an der Nordwestküste von Ammouliani, umgeben von zwei grünen Hügeln. Es ist über eine gut asphaltierte Straße in einer Entfernung von 2 km vom Dorf aus zu erreichen. Karagatsia ist vollständig sandig, mit transparentem Wasser, aber relativ tiefem Meeresboden rund um die Küste. Es gibt eine saisonale Strandbar, die Getränke, Snacks und Sonnenliegen bietet. In der Nähe des Strandes stehen Villen zur Miete zur Verfügung.
