Volax

Alley with flowers between the houses

Volax is known for its unusual landscape - giant rocks are scattered all around the village and on the plateau where it is located. Some of these rocks look like giant stone balls which someone just has thrown away, others have interesting shapes. You can see these stones even in the village itself, as parts of buildings or just sticking out from the ground.

Apart from the rocks, Volax is a scenic place with neat Cycladic houses, shaded alleys with flowers and trees. Several workshops exhibit the works of local artisans, and there is also a cafe and two tavernas.

One way to reach the giant rocks is by foot, through the village center. It is not possible to enter Volax with a car, you must leave it at the parking lot before the village entrance. After that, just go straight - the village is small and there is no chance to get lost until you reach the plateau with the rocks. Another way to go there is to use the ring road which encircles Volax and ends at a kids playground near the plateau.
