Vitsa

Vitsa

Being the closest village to Monodendri, Vitsa has the same advantages and proximity to many of the most interesting sights of Zagori - the Vikos gorge, the Stone Forest and many of the old stone bridges in the area. The village is entirely made of stone, with stone houses, stone alleys and a small square with a large plane tree in the middle of it.

Vitsa consists of two neighborhoods, divided by a deep precipice. The one which is located higher is known as Ano (Upper) Vitsa, and the one which is on lower position is known as Kato (Lower) Vitsa. Most of the restaurants and hotels can be found in Kato Vitsa, with views of the upper village.

From its outskirts of Kato Vitsa starts the hiking trail which leads first to the Misiou bridge (1.5 km) and then continues toward the bridge of Kokori.
