Sarti

Sarti is one of the most popular summer destinations in Sithonia, located on the east coast and with beautiful view of Mount Athos. It is populated all year round but the place really comes to life in summer when tourists arrive. The village has new and old part, known as Old Sarti and New Sarti.

Sarti combines the beauty of mountain and sea, crystal clear water and sandy beaches. Tourism is well developed and the place offers variety of hotels, apartments to rent and eating options. The old part is actually the center of the village and there you will find everything. The promenade is busy both day and night, with tavernas and cafes which turn into cocktail clubs at night. The alleys close to the promenade are full of shops, fast food, bakeries, travel agencies, mini markets, pharmacy, and they all lead to the small square with high palm trees and benches. The old part of Sarti is built on an elevation so some of the hotels are accessible via steep streets. In the northernmost end of Sarti, just 100 meters from the square there is a rocky promontory above the sea with a chapel and some benches on the top - it reveals panoramic view of the entire village and some neighbor beaches.

Sarti beach is long and sandy, with beach bars, some water sports and boat trips available. The sea is deeper around the shore in the old part of the village, and very shallow in the new part. The new part has developed in the last 10-15 years and it has mainly hotels around the beach. Yet it is within walking distance from the center and there are no elevations.

If you take the road in south direction, just outside Sarti you will find Platania, a large sandy beach which is quieter and less visited, and a few km further are the beaches of Paralia Sykia. The famous Portokali is also close to Sarti, about 6 km to the north.
