Nea Skioni

Nea Skioni

Nea Skioni is a small summer resort on the west coast of Kassandra. Its port is one of the largest on the peninsula and according to Thucydides, it was built by Peloponnese warriors after the end of the Trojan War. During the Roman Empire it was completely destroyed and then built up again by fishermen in 1918 which gave it the name Skioni - the oldest colony in the area.

The beach is narrow, predominantly sandy and shallow around the shore. There are many hotels and restaurants but as a whole the place is suitable for quiet holidays. In Nea Skioni you can watch beautiful sunsets over the Gulf of Thessaloniki, and nearby are the thermal springs of Agia Paraskevi and Loutra.
