Methoni

Methoni beach next to the castle

The village of Methoni lies on the tip of the westernmost leg of Peloponnese. The settlement is famous for the historical Castle of Methoni built by the Venetians in 13 century, right by the sea. Tavernas, restaurants and hotels can be found around the castle, the village is small and distances are short.

Methoni beach is next to the castle - a long strip of fine soft sand and shallow water. Heading to Koroni, just out of the village you will find the beaches of Kritika, Kokkinia and Lambes. There is another small but beautiful beach on the uninhabited islet of Sapientza in the bay of Methoni.
