Manganari

In a sunny day

Claimed to be the most beautiful beach of Ios, Manganari is also considered one of the best beaches in Greece as well. Its location is remote, on the unspoilt south coast of the island and 30 km away from the main village. You can reach it by car, by public bus or by hired boat from the port of Ios Chora.

Manganari consists of a series of sandy coves and that is why when you approach it, you will see signboards for Manganari North, Manganari Middle and Manganari South. Despite the public bus of the island goes there, it never gets much crowded due to the beach size and the fact that the journey takes 40-50 minutes drive from Chora. A couple of beach tavernas offer sunbeds and parasols to rent for a small charge but yet there is plenty of free space for those who want to spread their towels on the sand. The water is blue, transparent and shallow around the shore, and in the middle part of the beach there is a group of rocks which almost close one of the coves like a pool.

Except for the tavernas, a few villas and rooms to rent can be found around Manganari and it is a nice place to stay for relaxation and escape from other tourists but yet the remoteness from Chora and everything else should be considered.
