Liapades

stone paved inner village street

Liapades is a small traditional style village situated in the western part of Corfu, with a population of about 900 inhabitants. It is not located exactly on the beach (the beach is 1-2 km from the village) but it is very close to Paleokastritsa - one of the most popular resorts on the island, and it has the same coastline with scenic blue coves. Its location is good for walks to the capital and the north parts of the island.

Liapades consists of new and old part. The new (touristic) part is closer to the beach and offers family hotels, restaurants and shops. The main beach of Liapades (called Gefyra) is sandy, mixed with gravel and pebbles. It is well organized with beach bars and water sports, the water is blue and transparent and there are sea caves in the surrounding rocks. Boat cruises and boat taxis are also available to the beaches in the area. The local residents live in the old part of the village - it has no hotels because the streets are too narrow and steep. There are preserved houses from 18 century in the typical Ionian architecture.

Near Liapades there are a few isolated coves which can be reached by dirt roads - Rovinia, Klimatia, Iliodoro and Limni. There are also beaches which can be reached by boat only, like Stelari and Paradise beach (the real name of Paradise beach is Chomi).
