La Grotta

Watching people jump

It is hard to say that La Grotta is a beach - it is a small rocky bay and a spot for swimming and diving. It is located in Paleokastritsa, soon after you enter the village and close to Agia Triada beach.

La Grotta is reachable via 142 steps and climbing back may be strenuous for some people, although the steps are shaded it is steep. The bay is managed by a bar called La Grotta as well. The bar operates day and night and provides sunbeds and parasols on terraced wooden platforms, as there is no sand or pebbles and the sea is deep.

You may reach the sea via stone steps or you can jump directly from the rocks next to the platforms, and that is what most people do. The water is extremely transparent because of the rocks all around it and it is a scenic place to see, even without diving. In the evening the bay is beautifully illuminated by the bar.
