Karavostamo

Karavostamo

Karavostamo is a large village in north Ikaria. Although a seaside settlement with a couple of beaches, it is not tourist-oriented and has no hotels. It is rather a place where locals live, roughly with 450 permanent residents.

The upper part of Karavostamo is built amphitheatrically on a hill overlooking the sea, and the lower part is around the harbor. A mountain spring starts from the main road and crosses the village down to the sea. The restaurants and cafes are at the seafront, and there is also the village beach next to the pier - sand mixed with pebbles and deep waters. The houses in Karavostamo are in the typical for the north Aegean island architecture and the place is nice for a walk , away from the tourist flow. In a close distance there are a few pleasant coves - Aris and Mileopo to the east, and Fles to the west.
