Galissas
Galissas is a popular resort on the west coast of Syros. It has the longest beach on the island but note that all beaches of Syros are small and this one is not endless, it is about 300 meters long. From Galissas you can enjoy the sunset.
Galissas beach is Blue Flag awarded, with fine soft sand and shallow water. It is set in a cove between high cliffs and the water is usually calm. Sunbeds and parasols to rent are provided by beach restaurants but half of the beach has free space and a few municipal umbrellas, as well as tamarix trees for natural shade.
There are some nice taverns by the sea, mini markets, many small family hotels and one big hotel complex. Near the beach you can visit the chapel of Agia Pakou with fantastic sea view and the ruins of the ancient town of Galissos.
