Ermones
Ermones is one of the beaches on the west coast of Corfu. A few decades ago it used to be simply a beach, hidden in a cove between two giant sea cliffs. Today the hills behind Ermones are occupied by a few large luxury hotels, built amphitheatrically and alluring with splendid views toward the sea and the sunset. Other smaller hotels and studios have appeared, slowly crawling up the hills towards the tiny inland village of Vatos, forming a small resort with basic shops and a few restaurants.
The beach is small and sandy but there are pebbles around the shore and in the sea. In the summer sunbeds and parasols to rent are available by a beach bar but the place gets crowded in high season. Except for the beach bar, there are also two tavernas right by the sea.
The location of Ermones protects it from the winds which often blow on Corfu west coast, and the rocks which surround it are known as one of the best spots on the island for snorkeling and diving. A well equipped diving center operates on the beach.
