Dryopida

Alley in Dryopida

Dryopida is the second largest settlement of Kythnos but it is much more tranquil than Chora. The village is located in a strategic position the middle of the island, with easy access to both the east and west coast.

Dryopida is different than Chora in one more thing - although the buildings are whitewashed and the churches have blue domes, the buildings are not cubical like in most islands of the Cyclades. The houses have roofs with ceramic tiles and the village was declared a traditional settlement (which means a village which has retained unchanged its authentic outlook from the past).

In the charming narrow alleys of Dryopida you will find cafes, tavernas, bakery and fantastic home-made ice cream. In the village is also one of the best attractions of the island - the Katafyki Cave.
