Navagio and the Blue Caves

Boat trip on Zakynthos is a must, especially the caves and the renowned Navagio beach which cannot be visited otherwise. There are many cruises organized with big or small boats but the most famous of them are:
- Navagio and the Blue Caves
- Marathonisi island and the Keri Caves

Some of the big boats tour around the whole island and stop at defined places for swimming and photos. There are half-day or full-day trips. The smaller boats go to specific destinations and their advantage is that they can enter in some of the caves. Speed boats are also available for those who want to use them as water taxis and just get to a beach like Navagio to get back later with another course of the boat. Plenty of information is available for the boat trips on the island and you will have many options to choose from.

The places from which you can take boat to Navagio and the Blue caves are: Laganas, Zakynthos town, Agios Nikolaos, Cape Skinari and Porto Vromi. The big boats for a full-day trip start from Laganas and Zakynthos town. Agios Nikolaos and Cape Skinari are close to the Blue Caves and Navagio because they are in the north part of Zakynthos and trips last shorter. From there you can also take speed boats or glass bottom boats. From the above Porto Vromi is the closest place to Navagio, just a few kilometers, but it is located in the west part of the island and accessible via mountainous road.

The ports from which you can take boats to Marathonisi island and the Keri Caves are: Laganas, Agios Sostis and Limni Keri. They are also included in the route of the big boats touring the island.

Of course you can always rent a small motor-boat and explore the island by yourselves or hire a skipper for private tour. Thus you can stop on as many places as you wish and swim at on of the amazing inaccessible beaches on the west coast of Zakynthos.
