Asprovalta

Asprovalta

Asprovalta is a lively village in Northern Greece, 80 km from Kavala. The translation of its name is White Valley, so as you can guess there are no hills or elevations. The village square is at the seafront and has a nice promenade with benches and a park with fountains around which you will find restaurants, taverns and cafes.

Asprovalta lies in the large Strimonikos gulf where the beach strip stretches uninterrupted for many kilometers and includes the villages of Asprovalta, Nea Vrasna, Paralia Vrasna and Stavros. The beach of Asprovalta is wide, with fine sand mixed with pebbles around the shore. Many cafes have their sunbeds positioned near the water but yet there is plenty of free space for everyone. There are several volleyball nets, showers, changing cabins and playgrounds. Almost every house is a hotel and offers rooms to rent, and local bakeries are literally on every corner. Small shops and supermarkets are also available. The settlements tends to grow northwards and its newer part is known as Riviera but it is presented mainly by the summer houses of people from Thessaloniki and the region. A short coastal road connects Asprovalta with the nearby Nea Vrasna and you can walk to it for less than 10 minutes.

Both Thessaloniki and Kavala can be easily reached for a daily visit via the highway which passes close to Asprovalta. The old village of Ano Stavros with panoramic view of the entire Strimonikos gulf is also nearby, as well as the organized sandy coves of Olympiada, at the beginning of Halkidiki peninsula.
