Assos

Assos is one of the most charming and photogenic villages of Kefalonia. It is located in the northwest, close to the famous Myrtos beach.

Assos is built on a small peninsula, dominated by the ruins of a Venetian castle atop. The village is small but the beautiful scenery in combination with the pastel houses attract many visitors in the summer. There are a few tavernas by the sea and a narrow strip of smooth round pebbles where you can chill at a sunbed and enjoy the green hills around.

The castle on the top of the peninsula is accessible via a wide paved path which winds up the hill. The walk takes approximately 20-30 minutes but it is worth the effort and the return is much easier.
