Armenistis

Armenistis village

The fishing village of Armenistis is the most preferred place on Ikaria by tourists, mainly because of the superb beaches around it. But do not think that "most preferred" means full of people - like the entire island, this place has also managed to keep its quiet and slow-go atmosphere, no matter the summer visitors. There is a choice of hotels in the village.

Armenistis has a picturesque small harbor for boats with a couple of fish taverns around it. Small shops and a bakery are also available. Next to the harbor there is a lovely small beach with sand and tiny pebbles around the shore. The beaches which attract the tourists here are Livadi and Messakti, located just outside Armenistis and the neighbor village of Gialiskari. Both are sandy and partly organized, easily accessible by car or via short walk from Armenistis. Interesting places to visit in the area are the village of Raches (5 km) and the Monastery of Theoktistis near Pygi (10 km). The port of Evdilos is 12 km away.
