Alexandroupoli is a town in northeast Greece, 33 km from the border with Turkey. Its population is over 50,000 inhabitants and it is the commercial and administrative center of the region of Evros. The town has an airport and a large seaport from which ferries depart to the islands of Samothraki and Limnos.

A symbol and sight of Alexandroupoli is the lighthouse near the port, which has been into operation since 1880 and is 18 meters tall. The center is very vibrant, especially at night, with many cafes, restaurants, shops, etc. The municipal beach of Alexandroupoli is wide and sandy, Blue Flag awarded, and in the area there are a few more beaches like Nea Chili and Agia Paraskevi.

At the port there is a large parking lot where you can leave your vehicle for a small charge while on a walk or if you decide to travel to some of the islands without a car.
