Agios Ioannis

The beach seen from the path

Agios Ioannis (also Ai Giannis) is the beach next to the church of Agios Ioannis Kastri, which gained popularity after the Mamma Mia! movie. It is located in the uninhabited northeast part of the island but it is accessible via a good paved road. The beach has sand, pebbles and stones, with clean and deep waters. It is very small and gets crowded sometimes but it offers unrestricted view to the rock and the church on the top of it.

In the summer Agios Ioannis is managed by the cafeteria on the road (close to the church) which also provides sunbeds and umbrellas. You have to leave your vehicle along the road because the beach is accessible via a short path and some steps.
