Afissos

Houses at the sea front

Afissos is one of the larger seaside resorts of West Pelion, about 26 km from Volos. It is easily accessible via the coastal road which starts from Agria and goes down to the southernmost point of the peninsula.

The village of Afissos is built amphitheatrically above the sea, with a nice promenade and a small square by the sea. There are lots of cafes and tavernas, some souvenirs shops and mini markets. Afissos beach is in the south part of the village and it is a strip of sand mixed with small pebbles and calm transparent water. It is suitable for small kids as well as there are no waves even in windy weather. Beach bars are available from May to September and they offer sunbeds and parasols to rent. If you follow the narrow coastal road between Afissos and the neighbor Lefokastro, you will find other small isolated beaches without facilities where you can be all by yourself.

Small hotels and villas are scattered all around the village, as those built on the hills have panoramic view of the sea. 2-3 km from Afissos is the old settlement of Afetes, both are not the same although their names sound similar.
